What's going on with Penn's Corner?
Posted 1/21/2011 3:15pm by Penn's Corner Farm Alliance.

We are very excited to announce that we have opened up our sign-up for the 2011 Penn's Corner CSA!

We have a new website and new payment options this year!  If you choose to pay with a debit card or credit card you can pay in full or schedule your share to be paid in three installments.  Please note that if you sign up and pay in full (single payment) by the end of February, you will receive a 3% discount!

In-full payments by check are the most cost effective for our farmers.  Please choose this option when possible although all forms of payment are certainly welcome.  Additionally, we are happy work out other payment schedules when necessary- just contact us.

Click here to sign up now!   Or, if you want to find out more information first check out the CSA tab on our website.  If you would rather not join online, feel free to contact Karlin (our CSA Manager) and she will sign you up over the phone.  412-586-7577.

We look forward to having you in our 2011 CSA.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.  We welcome you to spread the word!

The Penn's Corner Board of Directors and Staff have worked very hard over the last year with Bearded Studios to create a new image for Penn's Corner.  We are all very proud to introduce our new look which we feel echoes the Penn's Corner aestetic and is rather pleasing to the eye.  Click here to read Bearded's perspective of the process.  And without further adieu...

We plan to have our CSA sign-up open by January 17th at the latest.  We are working very hard on an upgrade of our website and putting new payment options in place for our 2011 members!  We will be unveiling our new, improved and long awaited Penn's Corner Logo on the new site.  Don't worry that you've gone to the wrong site when it doesn't look iimmediately familiar.

We welcome new and returning members to sign up once we are up and running. We are offering the same shares as last year at the same prices.  Stay tuned!

2010 has been a great year for Penn's Corner.  We packed and filled more CSA boxes than any other year, and had our first anual CSA picnic!  Thank you for your continued support of the Penn's Corner farmers and of sustainable agriculture in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

We are already planning for our 2011 CSA season and hope to have you all back next year to enjoy it!  Look for new member sign-ups in January already!  In the meantime, check out our online Farm Stand to enjoy great Penn's Corner Products all year round.  Also, don't forget to become a Penn's Corner fan on Facebook and share pictures and recipies with other Penn's Corner members.

Fall is upon us, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner!  That means it is time to order your turkey from Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance!  We have two Penn’s Corner Farms raising beautiful turkeys for us this year; Weeping Willow Farm in Hartstown, PA, and Food from the Earth Farm in Emlenton, PA.  These are free range turkeys with no hormones or antibiotics.  They will be sold for $4 a pound, and are available in a variety of sizes.  Pick up for the Turkeys will be on Monday, November 22nd at the Penn’s Corner Farm Stand in Squirrel Hill at the Church of the Redeemer at 5700 Forbes Ave between 4pm and 7:30pm.  The deadline for placing an order is November 12 at 5pm.

Please send an email to [email protected] if you have any additional questions or are interested in placing an order.   Please specify whether you would like a small (13lbs and less), medium (14lb-17lb), or large (18lb and more) bird.  These turkeys are still gobbling in the fields, so these weights are just our best estimation.   We will get you a turkey as close to your weight preference as possible but we can't promise that it will be exact.  The earlier you arrive to the pick-up, the more likely you will be to get your desired size.  The turkeys will be frozen.

This is the first year any Penn’s Corner member farms have stepped up to the challenge of raising turkeys and we are very excited to be able to offer them to you!  Be sure to check out the pictures below of your turkey roaming the organic apple orchards at Food from the Earth Farm!  We look forward to hearing from you.
